It is essential that all candidates satisfy the relevant legal requirements to work in the country where they are to be placed, and as part of the Pearl Childcare vetting procedure, we will request that applicants show they have the required working permit to allow them to work in that country.

Candidates without a valid permit for their desired employment location can unfortunately not be considered for placement. To enquire about the exact visa requirements, we recommend that the applicant contacts the relevant Embassy and applies in person.

Pearl Childcare is not in a position to sponsor candidates requiring a visa, nor can we assist those with student or au-pair visas looking to work in the UK; below you will find some general guidance on the requirements for nannies wishing to work in the UK and overseas and which we hope you find useful.

  • UK

As mentioned above we are not unfortunately able to sponsor people looking to obtain visas, however for general information on working visas for the UK please visit the following links:

www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/employers/
www.ukvisas.gov.uk

or try the Employers Helpline on 0845 010 6677

It is important to note that all people registering for placement with Pearl Childcare must have a valid visa at the time of application and will only be allowed to work for the duration of the visa – this includes people in possession of a working permit such as Ancestry Visa, Youth Mobility Scheme, Indefinite Leave to Remain and the Domestic Working Visa. In submitting your application to our clients, Pearl Childcare will need to take into account the amount of time remaining on your visa along with any travel restrictions noted in your passport or on your visa.

Before a visa runs out the candidate can sometimes look to their employer to help them renew the work permit (especially for domestic working visas) although this will always be on a case by case basis and is therefore not guaranteed. Each candidate will be responsible for looking into his/her individual case.

  • EUROPE

British Nationals and other EU Citizens can normally be placed in fellow EU countries, whereas EU Citizens looking to work in Switzerland and Norway can generally have their visas sponsored by their employer.
New Member State Citizens will be considered if they have a valid work permit for the country they wish to work in. For workers applying from Romania and Bulgaria we can only consider applicants who have a valid working permit.

Applicants in possession of a working permit or visa such as Indefinite Leave to Remain or the Youth Mobility Scheme can only work in the UK. Pearl Childcare cannot consider placing such applicants to work in other EU countries and we would recommend they contact the Embassy of the country in which they wish to work to find out the exact visa requirements and apply in person.
The Schengen Visa allows freedom of travel between Schengen countries but is not considered to be a valid working permit.

  • MIDDLE EAST, RUSSIA and ASIA

It is a requirement that all applicants wishing to work in Russia, the Middle East and Asia obtain a visa from the relevant Embassy prior to being placed with a family. These visas, however, can sometimes be sponsored by the employer.

Prior to considering making an application we would recommend that each applicant makes their own work permit enquiries at the relevant Embassy so they are fully aware of the exact requirements and can apply in person.
