We follow a meticulous, phased recruitment procedure for each candidate to assist in placing the most suitable child carer for each family. Please feel free to take a look at the placement process for nannies and the placement process for parents described below.

PLACEMENT PROCESS FOR NANNIES
Step 1
Interested applicants are requested to register their full details online including an updated CV. These registrants are then pre-screened for matching with families that have also registered with Pearl Childcare Ltd. For access to Pearl Childcare's online registration form, please click here.
Step 2
The CVs are reviewed and an interview is then arranged with a Pearl Childcare consultant, providing the candidate meets the following requirements and can present the below-listed original documentation during the interview:
-
Two outstanding childcare references from the UK, valid for both British and foreign nannies. These references should include contact addresses and telephone numbers.
-
Passport
-
Visa
-
Driving License
-
First-Aid Certificate valid for 3 years
-
Relevant childcare qualifications and certificates
Please note that we will ask you to undergo an Enhanced CRB check.
Any documentation which is not in English should be accompanied by a certified translation. During the interview process we meet with the pre-selected candidates to discuss their work experience, objectives and expectations in order to assess whether they would be suitable for our clients needs. We may request to make copies of a candidate’s documents for future reference and these will be kept in our safe filing register.
Step 3
Following the interview the candidate’s references, CRB certificate, qualifications and other relevant documents are checked.
Step 4
Candidates are then put forward for potential positions and, providing both the family and a candidate are interested to meet we can arrange for an interview to take place at the family home.
Step 5
Pearl Childcare is finally on hand to liaise with our candidates following family interviews, as well as help them in answering any questions they may have.
PLACEMENT PROCESS FOR PARENTS
We appreciate that parents requiring our services are often very busy and we therefore look to keep the childcare placement process as simple and efficient as possible.
Step 1
All our clients are initially requested to fill in our short online Parents Application Form to register their details. For access to Pearl Childcare's online registration form, please click here. Once the registration is complete a consultant will be assigned to you to discuss the type of childcare you require, as well as explain in more detail about the way we work. Our ultimate goal is to help you find the most ideal child carer for your family. We can also assist you in writing a personalised vacancy where required.
Alternatively, you may also call us directly on +44 (0)20 7989 0152 and one of our consultants will be able to assist in your registration and discuss your particular childcare needs. Home visits are available upon request.
Step 2
Once we have defined the type of childcare solution you require, we will match your profile with potential candidates and send you a selection of profiles for consideration showing their individual skills, experience and references. Interviews can then be arranged between families and candidates following a shortlist selection. We can also provide guidance to families on how to conduct an interview with a child carer, suggested questions to ask a candidate as well as a standard employment contract. Face to face interviews at the family home are generally the norm in the UK; however, for overseas placements interviews can usually be conducted over the telephone or otherwise at our offices in Regent Street. Should families overseas wish for the candidate to interview at their home then the family will be responsible for the candidate’s travel costs.
Following the interview we will contact both yourself and the child carer candidate to discuss how this went and offer some advice to enable you to make a decision.
Step 3
Once you have made an offer of employment to one of our candidates (either verbally or written), we can help you draft a contract of employment. As an REC member, we are able to provide model contracts and our advice is that any contract should include the following details:
-
The nanny's duties
-
Start date
-
Pay, including details of reviews, whether paid weekly or monthly and whether the rate quoted is before or after any statutory deductions.
-
Holidays, including when these are to be taken
-
Sick pay
-
Hours of work
-
Notice periods for termination of employment
-
Confidentiality
-
Pension arrangements
-
Accommodation arrangements, if necessary
-
Travel arrangements and costs where applicable
Step 4
Upon signing your contract of employment with one of our candidates, you will become his/her employer and the agency fees become payable. We will call you a few weeks after the start of the employment to assess the how the working relationship is developing with the child carer and help to answer any further questions you may have.
Step 5
Should you have any further queries beyond this point, you are welcome to contact our post-placement support team.
